In this paper, the filiform corrosion images of AA6016-T4 aluminum alloy beneath an epoxy coating were detected and picked out from the image background with digital image processing technique, and some parameters such as corrosion area density, corrosion propagating speed, and projective value of filiform corrosion vertical to the scratch, were calculated from the processed filiform corrosion image, which were probed to evaluate the propagating status of filiform corrosion effectively and reasonably.
