Abstract: This paper discusses the calculation method of lateral torsional-flexural buckling load of a simply supported beam.Considering traversal deformations as well as free and restrained torsion deformation,the strain energy of lateral buckling and potential energy of the external forces can be calculated.The lateral torsional-flexural stability equation of the bridge is obtained by energy variation principle.As an example, lateral torsional-flexural buckling load of ∏-beam bridge is given out.The results show that torsional-flexural stability of the ∏-beam bridge is sound.
