The Rev. John Probst, a Baptist minister whose Media Focus group offers Bible study classes at studios and networks, has objected to the portrayal of Jesus as "a wimpy, almost milquetoast" character.
The last time some people saw Dan Monahan he was a wimpy high school student named Peewee, peeking through a hole in the girls' locker room in the 1981 movie "Porky's." Monahan is still hanging around locker rooms.
But List was finally tripped up after two decades because his new persona was created in his own image _ that of a wimpy, bespectacled accountant whose life centered on the Lutheran Church.
"People who will not even acknowledge that there's another facet to the pro-life movement, who won't leave room for activism, are wimpy," says Joseph Scheidler, who heads the Pro Life Action League in Chicago and who has been arrested a dozen times.
Blanc ditched the wimpy name, added the "dese" and "dose" of streetwise Brooklyn and rechristened the character Bugs.
Beacham said she met some activist nuns who help the homeless and she hopes to use them as role models. "I will be talking to them a lot, because they're very keen that nuns don't seem wimpy.
