{Infusorial earth} (Geol.), a deposit of fine, usually white,
siliceous material, composed mainly of the shells of the
microscopic plants called diatoms; also called
{diatomaceous earth}, {kieselguhr}, and {diatomite}. It is
used in polishing powder, and in the manufacture of
dynamite.
